We will continue the visit in Saint Antonio of Ranverso, a monastery born in 1188, with lombard-gothic architectural style because of the upgrading works during the XIV and XV centuries. Here we will discover the history of the canons of Saint Antonio of Vienne, devoted at the pilgrim assistance but also an important commercial stop because of the transit of the Francigena Way. It was also an important center for people who had the illness called “Saint Anthony’s fire”, cured by pig fat.
In the afternoon we will discover the new Avigliana, its transformation from town of artisans to a tourist destination, with a lot of different monuments which bear witness to the Medieval era: the castle, the clock tower, the access doors on the ancient perimeter walls, to arrive in Conte Rosso square the “living room” of the city.
In this part of the tour you will see how the ethnographic culture is modified for the tourists, with better services and ambitious projects like the TAV that divide the valley.
